Williams, Jazz Top Raps 96-79

Posted Mar 18, 08 1:58 AM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – The Utah Jazz topped the visiting Toronto Raptors 96-79 and tied a franchise record with their 19th consecutive home victory. The game was tied at 65 in the fourth quarter, until backup point guard Ronnie Price led the Jazz on a 24-4 run that sealed the victory. The unlikely hero had four points and three assists during the stretch, reports the Associated Press.

Price’s defense during that scoring run was excellent: he harassed T.J. Ford to the point where Ford exploded after getting whistled for an offensive foul. The five-year pro out of Texas had to be restrained from going after the referee; he was ejected. Toronto was again without all-star Chris Bosh, and the Raptors have been a miserable 2-8 in his absence.
